Laser-Cut Stainless Steel Penny Washers for Sports Equipment Manufacturer

THE BRIEF

Our customer, a sports equipment manufacturer, needed a batch of non-standard sized penny washers to replenish their stocks. It's a simple part, but not one available off the shelf in their required size — which is exactly why they came to us to make it.

WHAT WE DID

We laser cut 300 washers from 1.5mm stainless steel to their exact non-standard dimensions. Once cut, every washer was rumbled to remove sharp edges and leave a consistent, uniform finish across the batch. Laser cutting gave us the accuracy for a custom size at volume, while rumbling took care of the finish in one extra step rather than hand-deburring each part.

THE RESULT

The batch was delivered within 3 days — on time, which mattered given how low their stocks had run — and it's already turned into a repeat order.
